My name is Andrew, I am 29 years old and live in Westport, CT. I am an internet marketing consultant helping businesses and non-profits create a presence on the Web by increasing traffic to their site, increasing their ranking using Search Engine Optimization(SEO) as well as social media marketing.
Currently I am the marketing coordinator at The Greenwich Medical Skincare and Laser Spa. The spa specializes in cosmetic surgery, anti-aging techniques and general skincare. I helped them increase traffic by 40% by optimizing their existing site and making sure Google and other popular search engines know the site exists. I also created a custom facebook fan page found here. Keyword research and updating is done regularly because of new treatments available and new specials featured at the spa. In a troubling economy, a high end spa can see their revenues shrink. But thanks to the use of social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, getting new information in front of clients was much easier and more effective than traditional newspaper or radio advertising.
Before working for the Greenwich Medical Spa, I created the blog for the Westport, Ct Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber wanted to re-invent itself to attract more businesses to join the Chamber. One way was to create a community blog where people could post details about events, seminars, new businesses in the area and general information. I also set up a Twitter page, a Facebook account and increased visibility to the site with backward and reciprocal links from established Westport businesses. I have lived in Westport for most of my life and this project was a great way to give something back.
My next project had me creating a blog for a group known as WASA(westport animal shelter advocates). Westport Animal Shelter Advocates, or WASA, has been formed as a charitable not-for-profit organization to provide care and shelter to animals in the greater Fairfield County area. One of WASA’s initial efforts will be to raise funds to assist in the rehabilitation of the Westport Animal Control (WAC) facility in Westport, Connecticut. WAC is a no-kill facility and is operated by the Town of Westport. I created and maintain the blog free of charge. If my skills can help get a dog adopted by some one instead of being put to sleep, I’ll do whatever it takes.
Social media has become very important to internet marketing and building up a presence online. I have become an expert with Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, youtube and other social media sites. These days, having a website is not enough anymore. And if you think you don’t need a blog, look at what your competition is doing.
